Style: Speyside single malt scotch
Color: Honey gold
Aroma: Subtly complex. Floral (especially roses). Honeyed vanilla sweetness. Subtle notes of bourbon and bakers chocolate.

Palate: Nicely balanced and with great depth. Again the honey and vanilla, which marries beautifully with the floral, herbal, subtly fruity notes. Almonds and dried spice on the finish.
General Comments: Speyside style and sophistication. Linkwood at its best. This is the one to buy from the Murray McDavid Mission II series.
Price: $150. Only six hundred bottles available (malt@murray-mcdavid.com).

Signatory "Unchillfiltered" (distilled at Linkwood), 14 year old, 1990 vintage, 46%, $43
Obviously aged in a sherry cask. Juicy fruit, syrupy, a bit waxy, notes of maple syrup and spice (clove, mint). Nicely soothing, but there is a trade-off here-the soft, floral beauty which makes Linkwood malt so attractive is lost somewhere behind the sherry and escapes only briefly from time to time. (Bottled exclusively for Binny’s Beverage Depot.)
