Willie Tait’s involvement with the Isle of Jura brand began in January 1975 when he was first hired as a Tunroom Man at the remote Hebridean distillery. Mr Tait quickly moved on to be a Mash / Stillman. In June 1979 Willie became Assistant Manager, a post he held until he was made Manager in July 1985. In June 1993, he was made Manager of two Island distilleries, Isle of Jura and Bruichladdich, on the neighbouring Island of Islay, both distilleries, were part of the same group. He left his adopted island in August 1999, after twenty five years. His next appointment, took him to the north east of Scotland and to the village of Fettercairn, where he became Manager of three Malt distilleries. Fettercairn, Tamnavulin and Tullibardine, again all three distilleries were part of the same group. In September 2003 Willie was appointed global Master Distiller Brand Ambassador Isle of Jura Single Malt Whisky. His experience is widely regarded throughout the Scotch whisky industry and his presentations are highly acclaimed and a delight to observe. Willie offers an interview opportunity unlike any other regarding his Island and its wonderful Whiskies.
